One thing that makes Texas Hold’em so popular is that it mimics the game of five card draw in a lot of ways. This makes the games very popular and people that regularly play Texas Hold’em are often drawn to the 5 card draw games when they visit gambling Mecca’s like Las Vegas and Atlantic City or any of the many Native American Casinos.

TO start with if there is no actual pokerstar dealer for the table then the person delegated as the dealer will receive a marker “button”. This helps the players keep track of who is the dealer and the play will continue moving one spot clockwise with each hand.

Before any play can begin or any of the card can be dealt all of the players involved in the game and sitting at the table must place a bet. This is mandatory and not optional. These bets are known in this game as either antes or blinds depending on the choice of that particular dealer or casino.

As in Texas Hold’em, The player to the dealer’s left will ante up a small blind and the player two spots from the dealer’s left will ante up a large blind. After the blinds have been posted on the table the cards may then be dealt to the players. Each one shall receive exactly five cards in front of them all face down.

Just as in all other forms of traditional poker, the person making the bet is considered to be “under the gun”. He or she can choose to bet, call, fold or check. This is the way it will continue throughout the rest of the game.

Once the very first round of betting has been made in 5 card draw, the remaining players can opt to discard cards which they feel are not going to help them to achieve a win. Each player mat discard up to a total of five cards at this time. This is not something that you have to do and it is completely up to the player whether he chooses to discard and draw or to continue with what he or she has in the hand. This is a procedure that is known as “staying” or “standing” in the game of poker.

After each person playing the game around the table has been given the opportunity to draw and that has happened, the final round of betting begins for this deal.

Once this final round of betting has taken place, the players that are still remaining in the poker star game and have not folded have to show what they have in their hand. As is standard in the game of poker, the player with the best hand will win at this point and is allowed to collect the pot in the center of the table.

In the event that two players should happen to have an identical scoring hand, they have to take the pot and split it in half before the next hand can begin. After the pot has been obtained by the winner, if there is no dedicated dealer, then the player to the right of the previous dealer will shuffle the cards and start the next hand.
